What do I actually buy when I purchase a font?
You are purchasing a license to use the font software, not ownership of the font itself. The font software remains the intellectual property of Claude Type and each typeface is designed by Margot Lévêque.
What does “company size” mean?
Company size refers to the total number of people working for the organization, including employees, founders, directors, and long-term contractors.
Is the license user-based or company-based?
All Claude Type licenses are company-based. License pricing is determined by the total size of the company, not by the number of individual users, computers, or devices. The license applies to the entire legal entity purchasing it and covers use across all internal teams and departments. This includes designers, marketing teams, communication teams, and any internal collaborators working under the same entity. This model reflects the way fonts are used in real workflows and ensures a fair, scalable, and transparent licensing structure.
What happens if my company size changes?
If your company grows beyond the employee range covered by your current license, you will need to upgrade your license to the appropriate tier. Please contact us and we’ll be happy to assist you with the upgrade. Regular checks may be carried out on our side to ensure license compliance. If your company size decreases, your existing license remains valid; no downgrade or refund applies.
Is the license perpetual?
Yes. All licenses you buy on this website are perpetual, meaning there is no recurring fee as long as the terms of the license are respected, unless you have purchased a specific license for a limited period of time or on an annual basis. Can I use the fonts for commercial projects?
Yes. Commercial usage is fully permitted under a standard commercial license, including branding, marketing, editorial, packaging, and websites.
Are web and print included in the same license?
Yes. Web and print usage are always included in a single license. There is no need to purchase separate licenses.
How many computers can I install the fonts on?
You may install the fonts on any device owned or controlled by your organization, as long as your company size matches the purchased license.
Can I share the fonts with collaborators or freelancers?
Only for work done on your behalf. Freelancers or subcontractors must delete the fonts once the project is completed.
Can I send the fonts to a client?
Yes. If you buy the license on their behalf, no problem Fonts may not be transferred, shared, or redistributed to third parties. Your client must purchase their own license.
Can I modify the fonts?
No. Modifying, adapting, or creating derivative font software is not permitted. If you require a custom version, extension, or specific adaptation, please contact us. We’ll be happy to discuss your needs and help you with a custom solution:
Can I convert the fonts into another format?
Only if strictly necessary for technical embedding (e.g. web usage). Any other conversion is not allowed.
Can I use the fonts to create a logo?
Yes. Logos are permitted under a commercial license.
Can I use the fonts to create a font, alphabet product, or lettering system?
No. Any use of the fonts to create font software, alphabet products, lettering systems, or other letterform-based products is strictly prohibited, whether modified or unmodified.
Can I use the fonts for AI or machine learning?
No. Fonts and any data derived from them may not be used to train, test, or generate artificial
intelligence or machine learning systems.
Do you offer student or non-profit discounts?
Yes. Students and educators receive a 60% discount on all licenses for non-commercial use only (personal projects, academic work, and portfolios; excludes commercial and client work).
Do you offer special pricing for books or publishing?
Yes. If you are a designer working on a book project, or a publishing house, we’re happy to offer you a special condition: you only need to purchase an S license (the smallest license in our catalog) regardless of the size of your company. This means you pay a fixed price, no matter how large your organization is. We offer this to encourage the use of our typefaces in books,

In which formats are the fonts delivered?
Fonts are delivered in OTF format for desktop use, and WOFF / WOFF2 formats for web use.
Are the fonts compatible with all operating systems?
Fonts are delivered in standard formats compatible with modern macOS and Windows systems.
What happens if my company grows?
If your company size exceeds your licensed tier, you must upgrade your license accordingly.
What happens if I violate the license?
Any violation may result in immediate termination of the license and, if necessary, legal action under Swiss law, with jurisdiction in Switzerland.
